Budget priorities for 2025-26, from step pay increases for employees to prioritizing capital improvements, are on the agenda for the Monday meeting of the Bristol School Board.

The six budget priorities listed in agenda documents are:

  • To continue to offer step increases across all pay scales to ensure pay remains competitive and to attract and retain qualified educators and staff.
  • Use available funding to continue to support full implementation of the Virginia Literacy Act.
  • Provide adequate funding to enhance science and math proficiencies and provide hands-on learning opportunities.
  • Strategize funding to continue attendance clerks and additional attendance officer positions.
  • Continue funding for mentor support position for implementation of a comprehensive induction model.
  • Prioritize capital improvements that address immediate security concerns and long-term infrastructure needs and fund accordingly.

The school board will also reorganize by choosing a chair and vice chair for the year.
