Two Franklin County voting locations are likely to change before the next election. The county board will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the options, and public opinions are welcome.
The Henry and Burnt Chimney voting precincts currently vote at their respective elementary schools.
With both of those schools closed by the Franklin County School Board shortly after the November 2024 election, the Franklin County Electoral Board will be proposing to move the polling locations.
Tuesday night’s public hearing, held at the Franklin County Government Center, 1255 Franklin Street, Suite 104 in Rocky Mount, is open to “all interested parties” to voice their opinions and provide comments.
The proposed voting locations
Under the proposal, the Smith Mountain Lake YMCA will be the new polling location for the Burnt Chimney precinct.
The Henry Community Center would be the new polling location for the Henry precinct.
