Salem’s boys suffered no letdown after ending three-time champion Atlee’s season in Friday’s semifinal.

The Spartans (17-3) won their first Class 4 boys lacrosse title Saturday with an 11-7 victory over Loudoun County at Charlottesville High School.

Salem ended the season with a seven-game win streak.

*Rockbridge County’s girls met Western Albemarle for a second successive year in the Class 4 final with a similar result.

Western, which was in its sixth straight championship game, defeated the Wildcats 14-4 at Charlottesville High to claim the title for a third year in a row.

In other lacrosse finals:

West Potomac (Alexandria) topped Cosby (Richmond) 9-8 in Class 6 boys, Independence bounced Douglas Freeman (Richmond) 13-9 in Class 5 boys, Yorktown (Arlington) edged James Madison (Vienna) 16-14 in Class 6 girls and Riverside (Leesburg) nipped Douglas Freeman 8-6 in Class 5 girls.

 Updated, June 13:

The VHSL held its lacrosse state semifinals earlier in the week, highlighted by Salem’s 7-5 win over three-time defending Class 4 boys champion Atlee.

The Spartans will play for their first state title Saturday at Charlottesville High School against Loudoun County.

Rockbridge County will meet Western Albemarle in the Class 4 girls final for the second year in a row. The VHSL does not offer lacrosse in its lower three enrollment classifications so smaller schools are required to play “up” to compete for a championship.

Western Albemarle defeated Rockbridge 12-8 in the 2024 final.

Saturday’s other state finals are West Potomac vs. Cosby in Class 6 boys, Douglas Freeman vs. Independence in Class 5 boys, Yorktown vs. James Madison in Class 6 girls and Freeman vs. Riverside in Class 5 girls.
