The spending bills that the U.S. Senate passed last week include funding for seven “congressionally-directed” projects in Southwest and Southside, Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine announced Tuesday.
The spending bills for the Departments of Agriculture and Veterans Affairs, which must still be approved by the U.S. House and the president, include these projects:
- $1,000,000 for Bedford County to renovate an existing building into a community center.
- $1,000,000 for Carroll County Wellness Center, Inc. to expand the Carroll County Wellness Center to support staff operations to provide restorative care, chronic disease management and fitness services to a significantly larger population.
- $398,000 for the Town of Grundy to purchase a new fire truck.
- $376,000 for the Town of Crewe to repair and renovate the Crewe Community Center.
- $303,000 for Mission Dental Virginia, Inc., doing business as Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Center, to purchase four dental milling machines for the Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Center Safety Net Dental Lab in Abingdon.
- $285,000 for Bristol to purchase new municipal support vehicles.
- $188,000 for the Town of Lebanon to purchase a replacement brush truck.
